More apocalypse, less angst
Made with black and striped denims (both with slight stretch) – I was attracted to the pattern (Simplicity 2451) because I didn’t have quite enough of the black denim to make a full skirt – and also because I like yoked skirts, and the ability to put in a contrasting pocket. I would like to make this again out of blue denim with a front panel and facing in a bold cotton print.
The skirt fits exactly (no room to gain weight!), and falls just below the knee. The pattern is incredibly easy to follow and would make a good beginner’s pattern – except that it does not instruct the sewist when to finish inside edges and iron seams flat – which is a nice thing to have when you are just starting out. Generally I find Simplicity the best of the big four pattern manufacturers in terms of clear instructions and pieces that work.
Very pleased with this fall skirt and it’s about time! I’m pretty tired of everything in my wardrobe right now. Next up is another shirt.
