Post 2035: A new skirt for the wardrobe

Following on my post about fall sewing and unfinished objects – I took a sick day on Tuesday because I was wiped out from insomnia, family, and a sore throat – which gave me time to Invisible-hem this skirt that I found at the bottom of my UFO basket last week. I don’t know why I abandoned it in the first place because the fabric is a decent weight for a skirt, the elastic band isn’t turned, and it fits me well (though I have lost weight, so perhaps it was too tight when I made it?) I think I started this more than two years ago, so I’m glad to have it on the hanger in my closet as opposed to wadded up in a ball somewhere.

I wore it to work yesterday and there was no wardrobe malfunction:

A day off work today to be restful and putter around. Got a bit of gardening done, some weaving, some notes for a workshop. I started decluttering books in the studio, but instead of finishing that task, I got distracted and inspired by some of the beautiful books in my collection.
Midway through studio reorganization, I took a couple of hours to finish this UFO from many years ago. Nearly a whole garbage bag of fabric went into stuffing it, making this the best scrap-busting project I know of.
Studio diary: Everything is still a giant mess, but I did manage to move the bottom piece of my new cabinet this morning. The cabinet is now full of heavier weight/larger fabric quantities. The drawers (which got forgotten in the move and I will pick up next week) will stow the sewing supplies that currently live on the windowsills.
For some reason this sock has taken me weeks to knit. I'll have to get the second one cast o right away so I don't lose momentum.
Yesterday, I was honoured with a gift from my union local as I retired from my position of local president after 22 years on my executive.
I passed 3 garbage bags of scrap fabric and polyfill onto other makers today, which makes me happy for me and them.
I am in the middle of a terrible mess as I destash my studio of all the fabric scraps from projects gone by, not to mention the stuffing of several pillows and a futon mattress, plus a bunch of union-related swag that I need to offload back to my union.
Got this warp wound on earlier this week but it took me forever to tie up because I had broken some threads in the winding process. They aren't hard to fix, but I haven't had the focus to really go at it until last night.
Breed of the month from @longwayhomestead is Shropshire. Haven't decided what I'll do with it yet, but it's going on the needles this week.
Very happy with how the napkins turned out once hemmed.
You might remember back in photo #20 that I finally got around to washing some handspun yarn that I got for free out of an estate clearing over a year ago. I have now washed and dyed that yarn and am starting to wind it into balls.
I just finished reading this novel by someone I kind of know (@c.wakelyn who I met through @the.creative.good follow through sessions). Highly recommend! It is timely and funny and also heartbreaking. Plus, if you are from south Van Isle you will recognize all the places which is a rare treat!
