More apocalypse, less angst

i took dozens of photos on this trip, which can all be seen on my new online photo gallery at http://gallery.mahost.org/redcedar – but have decided to select out my few favourites from both northern and southern california and post them here.
this agave plant lives at the end of my friend kevin’s roadway in canyon, california – it stands much taller than me…..

the piece of land my friend kevin lives on in canyon is a squatted fifth of an acre which is the remnant of a landslide that happened a few years ago. although the digs are pretty sparse, there are many small artistic touches on the property that make it really cool – like the lantern tree.

kevin and i stopped at the trader joe’s dumpster on our way home from a poetry slam and there was quite the bounty to be had there – including about 50 boquets of flowers that were only a little worse for wear. most of the flowers went up the hill to jasmyn’s house, but kevin picked out my favourite flowers and made this boquet first. i think it’s the nicest flower display i have ever been gifted.

this cob house is a project of kevin and jared. it was started last year and needs a few finishing touches to be done – but it is pretty stunning just the way it is.

my friend kevin resting after a walk into indian valley behind the hill from his house. we got lucky on our walk with the first sun in three days….

i took almost no photos in humboldt except a series of waves on a black sand beach we visited – so here is the one representative humboldt shot….
