A government funny.

Best lines from yesterday’s hearings at the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans:

Hon. Loyola Hearn {Minister, Fisheries and Oceans Canada}:  You talked yourself about being at the christening of the Cape MacKay, and I want to make sure our members don’t think we’re naming our boats after parliamentarians–we’re not, we’re naming them after geographic capes throughout the country, and the ones on the west coast are named after capes.

Hon. Gerry Byrne (Standing Committee Member):
The capes are named after politicians.

Hon. Loyola Hearn: Well, they might have been, you’re probably right, Mr. Byrne.
