need to buy ram – suggestions

i need to upgrade the ram in this laptop (ibook – came with 256 meg standard) – preferably by ordering online to a place that ships to canada. any suggestions on reputable dealers? macstation doesn’t seem to have ram chips over 64 megs in their catalogue, compusmart doesn’t deal in ibook ram, and the online apple store sucks rocks for finding anything that isn’t a whole system or ipod related….

so help? i can’t remember the last place i ordered from and i’m not googling it sufficiently fast enough for my frustrated painful state.

  1. Having been burned by bad Mac memory (Mac’s are notoriously picky) I usually buy my memory directly from Crucial.com

Not sure how reasonable their shipping to CA is, but they do have the option listed on their website.

  2. I second Kellan’s recommendation. I bought my upgrade from Crucial, and it was flawless. Ordered late Friday night, and the ram arrived 10:30 monday morning, no duty or anything border-sticky-like.

  3. great suggestion – best prices for sure.. however they do not ship to PO Box addresses and since I live in a rural community, that’s all I have.

stupid stupid stupid…. i’ll have to get it mailed to someone else with a “real” address

  4. I upgraded ram in my ibook a couple of weeks ago and havea 256meg sim for an ibook… If you want it… I can give it ot blaine when he comes down to sf in a couple of weeks.

  5. uh – yeah – that would kick ass since i was only looking at a 256 upgrade for now since i don’t have a lot of $$ to spend at the moment (school is expensive and i have to pay for more courses shortly)… so hooray! thanks….
