100 Day Project (2026) – Days 1-10

10/100 | March 3, 2026: Wove placemat #4. More twill!

9/100 | March 2, 2026: Wove placemat #3. Twills!

8/100 | March 1, 2026: Found a mistake in my warp, fixed it and re-tied everything back on. Wove two placemats (of 9).

7/100 | February 28, 2026: Sleyed the reed on the loom and got it tied up for weaving by the end of the night.

6/100 | February 27, 2026: Went on a wee road trip to Victoria, so I didn’t get into the studio. However, I did pack this book The Art of Weaving by Betty Briand along with me and read some on the ferry trips. This is an excellent resource for new and experienced weavers. I’m learning so much, and reviewing what I already know through a new lens.

5/100 | February 26, 2026: Started threading the loom.

4/100 | February 25, 2026: Wound a new warp onto the beam today. This is from a Jane Stafford Kit which makes a set of placemats in twill and plain weave. I’m using the kit to sample designs for some napkin sets I plan to make for wedding and housewarming presents in the near future.

3/100 | February 24, 2026: Cleaned out the weaving cupboard and got rid of some suspect yarn (looked a bit moth-eaten) as well as everything in there that was not weaving fibre. This started as an exercise in looking at my stash for inspiration, but turned into a bit of a re-org. Everything related to spinning was moved elsewhere, and some weaving yarns were moved to the knitting cupboard, and vice versa.

2/100 | February 23, 2026: Started a “finishing” sample out of the last piece of fabric I wove – trying out some different fringe finishing techniques to see how they look and wash-up in the fulling process. This piece will become part of my samples catalogue.

Day 1/100 | February 22, 2026: Today I “tuned” my loom to the warp I put on it right before I got sick. This process entails balancing out all the shafts and lamms to get a clean shed for weaving on. After this, I wove half the yardage for a meditation shawl I am weaving for myself.
