100 Day Project (2026) Days 21-30

30/100 | March 23, 2026: More weaving on the linen warp – this is a sample with 30/2 silk as the weft.

29/100 | March 22 2026: Beginning of the linen weave!

28/100 | March 21 2026: Got the linen warp all tied on and ready to weave. This is my first time lashing on a warp (as opposed to tying on). This is a way of attaching a warp to the front beam that results in a lot less fibre waste (probably 6 inches less).

27/100 | March 20 2026 : Threading the loom with a fine linen warp (40/2). This is my first time using such a fine material for warp and it has been an interesting exercise in discovering the vast differences in fibre properties. Turns out that working with linen is nothing like cotton or wool.

26/100 | March 19 2026: I had no time for weaving due to a day away from the studio, but I toted along this classic weaving tome by Peter Collingwood to do some off-loom learning.

24 and 25 | 100, March 17 and 18 2026: I started threading, discovered a mistake in my heddle management, and had to unthread and start over. This is a fine linen warp which I am putting on in a sample quantity to see if I want to work with fine threads, and what kind of fabric this weight of thread (plus silk) will make.

23/100 | March 16, 2026: Doing a bit of design work. I’ve been itching to weave a 60-inch wide blanket in doubleweave and now I’ve mapped out my plan using an oceanside colour palette I collected 2 years ago.

22/100 | March 15, 2026: Weaving-related item of the day is the cutting, ironing, and hem-pinning on the collection of placemats I wove last week. I will hand hem these at a rate of about one per day.

21/100 | March 14, 2026: Thinking about what to put on the loom next, working only from my stash. I’ve got some linen and silk here and I’m going to create some samples threaded in setts of both 24 and 30 using a point twill pattern and various tie-ups.
